Day 4: A Week of Prayers – Walking In Her Calling

My oldest daughter is in the prime point of gearing up for college and “adulting”. She is a tenth grader this year and although she is pretty set as of now what she wants to do, I’m sure along the way it will change up a bit, and that’s okay. The world lends so much pressure to success, achievements and pursuing those goals! Nothing is wrong with any of those things but I remind my daughters everyday that those things are not important or significant in the place of the calling that God has on their lives. I want them to know the Lords leading for their lives and for them to be passionate about serving Him. No matter where they land in life, they should be pursuing the Lord in ALL things first. Lets pray for our daughters to walk in her calling.

Prayer

Lord, as my daughters get older my prayer is that the pressures to do and be does not consume them, worry them or cause them anxiety. May you give them a clear path to the good work you have for them in their lives, in each season of their lives. During those seasons, allow them to be content in whatever work you have them to do. Allow them to live in the purpose you’ve called for them humbly, wisely and justly. May they seek You before every decision is made. Even when decisions are hard and it doesn’t seem like the way to go, let them be bold and courageous to follow You. Joshua 1:9 Help them to always know that Your plans are for their good and Your glory. And lastly, help us to model contentment in our seasons of life so that they see the example of Christ being glorified. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read these scriptures and talk with your daughters about what they see themselves doing as they get older and how they can use that to honor Christ in their work. Share how God has charted your life throughout the years in your work.
