Day 2: A Week of Prayers – The Identity of Our Daughters

Our daughters are wonderfully made in the image of God. If you can really grasp that in your mind, you’ll see how important you are to God and you’ll realize why He created you. It took some time for this verse, Psalms 139:14, to give me understanding. I started to understand that God, our creator was in control, He determined who I was, He determined my steps and He knew me before all of creation. Just keep your thoughts on that for a moment. When we understand and know whose we are, we don’t allow the culture to narrate, give opinion to or define who we are. We are children of God. A God that formed the very creation of creation. A God that gives life and takes away life. A God that gives us the image of Himself so that we know how much He loves us.

Father God, Thank you for my daughter. Thank you for making her so wonderfully complex. Thank you for giving her life. May she understand the debt your son paid for her to be free. I pray that this culture of imagery will not define her and disrupt unity and the lovingness she has with herself, family and friends. I know that this can lead to low self-esteem and anxiety and confidence in the wrong things. So I ask that you reveal yourself to her so she responds to your love. Help me to say the right words to her in guiding her to know you more. Let her see herself through the lens of Christ so that she knows her worth. Let her identity be in you so that whatever comes her way in opposition to your word, she can shake it off and be rooted in what she knows about You. Help her to live unapologetically for you each day. Give her confidence in her identity in Christ and not in how she looks or what she can do. Thank you for creating her and giving your life for her. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen
